States With The Highest HIV Rates In Nigeria – Akwa Ibom, Benue & Rivers Lead

Here is a List of states with Highest HIV rate in Nigeria.

Prostitution, drug addiction, unprotected heterosexual and homosexual intercourse, are all contributing factors to the growth in HIV rates in Nigeria.

Second only to South Africa, Nigeria has one of Africa’s highest HIV infection rates in sub-Saharan Africa.

There aren’t enough HIV testing and counseling facilities in Nigeria, and this isn’t likely to change any time soon. Inadequate availability of antiretroviral therapy is also a huge problem.

According to research, Akwa Ibom, Benue and Rivers states take the lead on HIV rate percentage. Following them closely, are Taraba, Anambra and Enugu states respectively.

Yobe, Bauchi, Sokoto, Jigawa and Katsina states are at the bottom of the list with less than 0.5 of residents living with the deadly virus.
